Sunaina Roshan, sister of the Greek God of Bollywood Hrithik Roshan and daughter of filmmaker Rakesh Roshan has recently undergone a massive weight loss transformation that has caught the eyes of netizens. She has lost around 50 kgs and is now living a healthy lifestyle. She took to Instagram where she candidly talks about her weight loss journey of making a healthy switch in her daily routine. In the Instagram reel, she spoke about how she was successfully able to lose weight despite having health issues like jaundice and further talked about how having grade 3 fatty liver disease made it worse.
“The path from junk to healthy food was no easy task, but it’s not about perfection, it’s about progress. It’s about taking each day as it comes and focusing on being the best version of yourself. Don’t wait until it’s too late and don’t let illness or fear hold you back. Stay kind to yourself and always remember, You Are Unbreakable,” her caption reads.
In the video, she opens up about how she had an unhealthy eating pattern where she would consume a lot of junk food, from pizzas to burgers. “Nothing healthy was going into my body,” she added. However, her jaundice changed her dietary patterns. In a recent podcast with HER health talks, Sunaina also mentioned that reversing her grade 3 fatty liver disease is one of her biggest achievements. Her next goal is to work on the 10 per cent of grade one fatty liver disease that she still has.
Why Is It Hard To Lose Weight With Fatty Liver?
Losing weight can be challenging for people with fatty liver disease, a condition linked with obesity, insulin resistance, and metabolic syndrome. Studies suggest that non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) affects nearly a quarter of the global population and is marked by excess fat accumulation in the liver, which disrupts metabolic functions and hinders weight loss efforts.According to research published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, fatty liver impairs the body's ability to metabolize glucose and fats, leading to insulin resistance. This metabolic disruption causes the liver to convert excess sugars into fat rather than energy, compounding weight gain instead of aiding in weight loss.
Another study in Gastroenterology shows that fatty liver leads to chronic inflammation and oxidative stress, conditions that decrease muscle function and overall energy levels. This reduction in stamina further complicates the process of burning calories through exercise, an essential component of weight loss.
