A miraculous delivery took place on October 7, 2024, with the successful birth of healthy quadruplet girls at Holy Family Hospital in Delhi. This rare occurrence, seen in only 1 in 700,000 pregnancies globally, has brought immense happiness to the family and the medical fraternity. Under the guidance of Dr Jacintha Mathias, Consultant Gynaecologist at Holy Family Hospital, the high-risk pregnancy and delivery were managed with precision and care. Each baby, weighing between 1.200 kg and 1.580 kg, was delivered safely. Post-delivery, Dr Deepak Tirthani, Consultant Paediatrician, has been overseeing the neonatal care, ensuring that the newborns are safe.
The parents, overjoyed by the safe arrival of their daughters, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the hospital staff. “We feel truly blessed to have welcomed four healthy daughters into the world. The care and compassion shown by the doctors and nurses gave us immense strength during this extraordinary journey,” they shared.
Dr Mathias highlighted the significance of this event, emphasizing the collaboration and expertise required to ensure a positive outcome in such complex cases. “This remarkable achievement is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the advancements in maternal and neonatal care,” she said.

Post-Delivery Care for Quadruplets

Caring for multiple newborns, especially quadruplets, requires a lot of care, attention, and a structured approach, with immense support. Here are essential post-delivery care tips:
- Medical Follow-Ups:
Regular pediatric check-ups are crucial to monitor the growth and health of each baby. Premature or low-birth-weight babies often require specialized care to ensure their physical and neurological development progresses as expected.
- Adequate Nutrition:
Ensuring all babies receive sufficient nutrition is critical. Breastfeeding may need to be supplemented with formula milk to meet their nutritional needs. Consulting a lactation expert can help the mother manage feeding schedules and techniques effectively.
- Sleep Management:
Establishing a synchronized sleep schedule is essential for managing multiple newborns. Swaddling and maintaining a calm, comfortable sleeping environment can help ensure restful sleep for the babies and the parents.
- Hygiene and Immunization:
Quadruplets are often more susceptible to infections. Parents should prioritize hygiene, including frequent hand washing and sanitizing feeding bottles and toys. Following the paediatrician's immunization schedule is non-negotiable.
- Support System:
Managing quadruplets can be overwhelming for parents. Seeking help from family members, hiring professional caregivers, or joining support groups for parents of multiple can alleviate stress and improve overall care quality.
- Individual Attention:
While caring for all babies simultaneously, parents should strive to give individual attention to each child to foster emotional bonding and cater to their unique needs.
- Parental Self-Care:
The physical and emotional demands of raising quadruplets can take a toll on parents. Prioritizing their health, getting adequate rest, and seeking mental health support when needed are crucial.
