However, several edible varieties, like buttons, oysters, and shiitake mushrooms, are not only safe but packed with nutrients that make them a valuable addition to your diet.
According to the Coimbatore-based Mushroom Foundation of India, mushrooms are an excellent source of protein, carbohydrates, and essential vitamins. Their low caloric value and high nutrient content make them particularly beneficial for individuals with heart conditions or diabetes. Mushrooms are also rich in B vitamins, vitamin D, selenium, copper, and potassium, all of which contribute to overall health.
